Warm greetings friends.
Understandably, almost all of us are feeling anxious about something currently happening globally, locally, privately or a combination of it all.
I’m not immune to anxiety which is why I’ve tried so many different practices to help myself. As part of an ongoing process of experimentation, these practices are always evolving and I believe improving.
This series is a mixture of practices meant to balance the nervous system, access the vagal nerve, approach breathing with gentleness and self guided care, some physically restorative postures, meditations utilizing imagination and plenty of mindfulness. All framed in the Dharma and somatic psychology.
Blending the subtle and somatic, the mind and body never ceases to fascinate me. It’s been my uncomfortable body that has led me deeper into understanding its language and why the Buddha emphasized it over and over as an incomplete path without it.
There are some practices so subtle that they require some modicum of meditation practice to learn them — so I don’t offer them to large groups. I’m looking forward to sharing them in another round of hosting a small mentoring group beginning on March 13th. There are still a few spots for this program which consists of a monthly mentor group, optional facilitated peer group and a monthly one on one session with me. You can check it out here. These practices are completely practical, accessible and will allow you to be embodied and have agency within yourself. (scroll towards the bottom of the page you’ll see a place to arrange a time to talk to me about it and see if it’s a fit).
Most of all, I encourage you to find your own refuge and paths to having agency and choice- choice about what you think and feel, choice to not gravitate or linger in fear, or anxiety and not let anyone burden your heart with hate. Try to refuse hate by noticing it when it’s arising and turn towards what has goodness and beauty and is meaningful to you that still exists. Opt into being of kind service to yourself and others. Please stay clear so you can help where and when you can. Be embodied so your mind isn’t lost in stories. Stay connected to spiritual friends and reach out for support. Personally experience interdependence so you feel how truly we’re connected and in this life together. Remember goodness still exists and matters.
I hope to see you somewhere soon and reach out if I might be of support you.
With kindness, Jill
